H.R. 3236, the Ambulance Medicare Budget and Operations Act of 2017, directs the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services to extend the current 2% urban, 3% rural, and super rural bonus payments for ambulance services for five years, and institutes a cost reporting requirement in order to conduct a cost study for reevaluating reimbursement rates. These bonus payments are set to expire on December 31 of this year without this new legislation. We encourage you to contact your congressional representatives during the summer recess to share your opinions for this legislation.
