National Continued Competency Program
National Registry Recertification Information:The Virginia Office of EMS has been working with National Registry to offer a more streamlined re-certification process for providers in Virginia who choose to maintain their National Registry certification. This document is a Quick Reference Guide for providers who are completing the National Registry Re-certification Application ONLINE. These instructions should be followed verbatim.
Important items to keep in mind:
1) The National Registry and Virginia certification cycles must be maintained in cycle with one another.
2) National Registry now allows a provider to start accumulating CE toward their next recertification cycle as soon as they have been recertified for the current cycle. Please remember to click the ‘Recertify Me’ button in your EMS portal as soon as you have recertified with National Registry.
3) If audited by NREMT, contact Debbie Akers at the Office of EMS so she can prepare the necessary verification certificate. Soon, this certificate will be available in your EMS portal account (should be accomplished after symposium).
