AAP Neonatal Resuscitation Program

Neonatal Resuscitation for the Virginia EMS Provider; Instructor Lead Event

This is a neonatal resuscitation course focused on the assessment, skills and interventions that occur outside of the hospital setting when a neonate is in need of stabilization.  We are confident you will find this class engaging, applicable and maybe even a little fun!

After you register on the REMS website:

  • You will need to create a profile with the AAP NRP system so you can access and complete the online work prior to attending the “Instructor Lead Event” (ILE).  Attending this ILE class will fulfill the second of the two part requirement of the AAP NRP course completion.  You will create a global account here:  https://nrplearningplatform.com/login?comingFrom=user this  will allow you to access your course work and completion where ever and whenever you need.  Please make sure you use the same email when you sign up for an NRP global ID account as you do when you actually register for the class via your agency.
  • Once you have  signed up for a Global ID please email Kelsey at KRideout@vaems.org so she can have the appropriate online module assigned to you.  The online module is GRANT FUNDED so you should NOT pay for this out of pocket.  After the module is assigned to you, you will get a confirmation email. If starting IVs, giving medications and performing intubations are in your scope of practice, you will be signed up for the ADVANCED online work.  If you do not give medications or intubations, you will be assigned the ESSENTIAL NRP provider work.
  • Once you have completed the online work, you should be offered an evaluation of the online course and once you fill that out, it should link you to the online work completion certificate. Please make a copy of that and bring it with you to class as it will be necessary to document completion of the course.
  • You will NOT need to sign up for an “ILE”. This will be done for you via registration with REMS.   After you have attended the ILE, your attendance will be documented and you will be able to go back to that website and download a copy of your ecard for completion of the requirements for the course.

The online module portion of this class is funded by a grant from the Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMS-C) committee at the Virginia OEMS.  A $25 registration deposit is required for REMS providers and will be refunded upon completion of the course.
