Fire and Rescue Medic/Firefighter (Full Time) - posted 8/25/14
This position is responsible for emergency medical service work responding to a variety of injuries and illnesses, fire prevention, and suppression.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Possession at all times of a valid, Virginia driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
Currently hold and maintain certification or equivalent in the following:
Basic Cardiac Life Support (Health Care Provider CPR)
EVOC Class III
Virginia Emergency Medical Technician – Intermediate or Paramedic
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or equivalent
The following certifications must be attained within the specific time frame of the assignment and maintained throughout employment:
Within 1 year in assigned job position:
Virginia Department of Fire Programs Firefighter II *
Virginia Department of Fire Programs Hazardous Materials Operations *
Virginia Department of Fire Programs Basic Pump Operator or Driver Pump Operator *
Virginia Department of Fire Programs Rural Water Supply *
ICS 100, 200, 700, 800
Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or equivalent
* Special Note – Special consideration is given to ALS providers without firefighter certifications. These candidates, if hired, would be provided this training during their initial probational period.
