EMS Drug Kit Transition Webinars

In case you missed it, the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) in collaboration with the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association (VHHA) and the Virginia Society of Health-System Pharmacists (VSHP), announced a series of webinars that will cover the upcoming drug kit transition affecting Virginia's EMS agencies in 2025. Subject matter experts from the Drug Enforcement Administration, pharmacy, and hospital partners, as well as other regulatory bodies will be keynote speakers in these training sessions. Register now for the first webinar in the series, which will be held on December 5, 2024, at 5:30 p.m., and will consist of a 60 minute collaborative training with a question and answer session. The webinars will be held bi-monthly, and will be recorded and posted on the OEMS website for those not able to attend on the day. A sign up link is included below.

The December 5th webinar will feature subject matter expert Cindy Williams, B.S. Pharm, FASHP, Vice President/Chief Pharmacy Officer with Riverside Health System. The following topics will be covered:

An overview of regulatory licensure and requirements of establishing an EMS drug kit program.

An overview of establishment of purchasing for an EMS drug kit program.
