Last year, the Rappahannock EMS Council successfully hosted the inaugural Anatomage Tournament in Fredericksburg, VA, bringing an exciting, hands-on medical experience to students across the region. We are pleased to announce that our next tournament will take place on February 14th, 2025, at Colonial Forge High School in Stafford County. Please find the attached flyer for more information and the registration link.
This event is an exceptional opportunity for students to enhance their understanding of human anatomy through cutting-edge technology. The Anatomage Tournament encourages teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills as students collaborate to identify anatomical features by name and identify anatomy structures by their main description/function on the Anatomage Table, a highly interactive 3D anatomy visualization tool. The competition is structured to promote not only medical knowledge but also soft skills like communication and leadership—skills vital for success in healthcare and other collaborative fields.
In addition to the competition rounds, students will rotate through educational workshops, designed to broaden their knowledge and understanding of various real-world medical and emergency scenarios. Our tentative lineup of workshops includes:
- Red Cross - Zombie Apocalypse: A fun yet informative session on disaster preparedness.
- Emergency Veterinary Medicine: Explore the fast-paced world of veterinary emergency care.
- Drones in Search and Rescue: Learn how drones are transforming emergency response efforts.
- Stroke Stories: Follow the journey from community stroke recognition to treatment and rehabilitation.
- Scan It: Presented by YOVASO, this workshop delves into the physics of car accidents, focusing on survivability and injury prevention.
We are confident that your students will have an incredible time, learning and growing in a dynamic, hands-on environment. The combination of competitive and educational elements makes this tournament a unique experience where students can apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges, while also gaining insights into potential career paths in healthcare, emergency services, and beyond.
We hope to see your school participate in this exciting event!
